Mommy, Look!

This is our timeout corner.

Some days, really crappy things happen and you just have to laugh them off. This morning's particular incident was quite literally a really crappy event. I mean crappy with a capital S-H-I-T-T-Y.

I was laying in bed, half asleep and half listening for one of the girls to wake up. It seemed to be one of those mornings that they both needed a few extra minutes to snooze and I wasn't going to complain. Apparently though, I was not quite as awake as I thought I was.

One minute I'm half dreaming about being back at the beach sans kids and the next I hear Emily saying "Mommy, look!" I could tell she was standing on the bed right in front of my face, so I opened my eyes, expecting her to show me a movie she wanted to watch or something she wanted to eat.

What I saw when I opened my eyes, was a tiny little bare bottom about a foot from my face and covered in poop. OMG. WTF. Barf.

She sleeps in a pull up and instead of coming to me before she took it off, she decided to take it off herself and then come tell me she had already pooped in the pull up instead of the potty. I shouted for her to go get on the potty so I could clean her up and put her in the bath. My surprised shout must have scared her because she ran to the edge of the bed, jumped down onto her bottom and slid off the side to run and get on her potty.

Yes, she slid down my bed with her naked bottom covered in poop. OMG. WTF. Barf. Needless to say, we got everything cleaned up and then had a chat about using the potty. While the entire situation was more amusing than anything, I'd really rather not have it happen again.

What are some of your best potty training tips for toddlers who know that they are supposed to use the potty but won't?

Family Vacations Are Not For The Weak

I'm writing this post as I stare out at the ocean and wonder who besides us needs a kid free vacation immediately following their family beach vacation. It must be easier when your children are older and able to feed themselves and wipe their own butts. However, we have two kids under the age of three and so we have to pack the entire hotel room just to go to the beach. I'm not saying that Andy and I haven't had a blast watching the kids enjoy the beach; but I'm also not saying we didn't enjoy some grown up beverages every night after the kids went to bed.

Big sis Alyssa is still in school so she couldn't come on this trip.

We got to visit with our friends Amanda & Adi Kay!

Beachin' Baby Looks

I'm loving these looks from Old Navy for Blair. We are headed to Gulf Shores next week and it will be her first trip to the beach. We are all so excited for some time to relax with our family! Sun, sand, fruity drinks and yummy dinners. Andy and I plan to soak it up while we are there, because we are going to try the Whole30 starting on June 1st. Yikes! Suggestions for survival are welcomed!
